Parent and Carer Support

Parent smiling with their child

Allsorts grew from a parent and carer group which wanted to create a strong and supportive community.  This is still at the root of all our parent and carer activities; we find ways to come together for support, information and friendship.

Connect with others

Allsorts families often tell us that being with other people who “get it” is one of the most important aspects of their membership. You can connect with others whilst taking your child to an activity or you are welcome to attend our Parent and Carer workshops. These sessions provide an opportunity to broaden your knowledge and share ideas with other parent carers.

Parent and Carer Workshops

We’re thrilled to be launching our new parent carer workshop programme for autumn/winter. We hope members facing various challenges will find something valuable in one or more of the sessions listed. Please do get in touch if you need further information on any of our workshops or have a suggestion for a future session.

These regular Monday morning sessions provide a wealth of information and resources for parents and and opportunity to meet other parents, build friendships and strengthen community.

Working alongside external organisations we will explore topics such as:

  • Education and Learning
  • EHCP Advice
  • Parental Self-Care
  • Behavioural support
  • Transitions through teenage years into adulthood
  • Sensory processing
  • Communication

Sessions are free but a £3 donation is welcome

9.30am-10am: Arrivals and refreshments

10am-11.30am: Facilitators deliver workshops

11.30am-12pm: Tea/coffee/chat

Parent and carer workshops are primarily, child free sessions, should you need to bring a child, contact the office to find out whether we can make an exception.

Grandparents Group

Being the grandparent of a child with additional needs is a complex experience, as you hold the worries and needs of both your child and your grandchild in mind.

Our grandparents group meet monthly at the Stroud Activity Hub for coffee, support and friendship. Whilst informal, these sessions are facilitated and give grandparents the opportunity to reach out for advice around the role of being a grandparent to a child with additional needs.

Our Families Team

The families team offer emotional support as well as information and signposting to other organisations which can help you and your child.

Should you require emotional support or signposting, please call our office on 01453 750474 to be put through to the families team or arrange a drop in to one of our Stay and Play sessions, where our team will be available to talk.
