WEEKLY UPDATE – What’s On?

Allsorts Health and Fitness 

We want to keep you fit, happy and healthy during the COVID-19 emergency, whilst we all stay safe at home. Social interaction is really important for your mental health and we love to see smiles on faces! Plus, by accessing our digital health and fitness programme, you are supporting yourself and Allsorts!

There are lots of different ways we can help you to stay fit at home, with Fitness Instructor Gemma and Sports Coordinator Max:

  • £7.50 (recommended fee) – join Claudia for weekly Yoga Classes on Mondays: 3.30pm for those who can stand and sit and lie, 4.15pm for those who can sit and lie.
  • £5 – join in with our weekly Family Fitness Fun sessions from home on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 4.00 – 4.50pm
  • £15 – £30 – Boxing Master Class with Gemma Wilks! This one is great to do with a partner!
  • £30 – 1 hour bespoke Personal Training for one person or the whole family!
  • £15 – 30 minute bespoke Personal Training for one person or the whole family!
  • £5 – 20 minute video call with Gemma to discuss training ideas and how you can keep yourself fit and healthy during this period.

Story Time – read aloud with Allsorts

You asked us to read your favourite stories aloud and we are sharing these on Youtube every Monday morning.  This week The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr.

Tuesday Toddler Tunes 

Our toddler group love Ann’s gentle music making and nursery rhymes at the end of our weekly sessions.  We are sharing these on Facebook and Youtube every Tuesday morning but will also share here.  This week: I’m a little teapot and more.

Wednesday Family Music Time – filmed sessions with Croc n Roll

We can’t meet up for our usual sessions, but one of the musicians who often works with us is offering a weekly film for you to enjoy at home. Steph from Croc n Roll is sharing her filmed music sessions free of charge to Allsorts members.

🏆Family Challenge – a fun facebook challenge posted every Thursday morning

We want you to create a sensory treasure box! Take a box or bag and fill it with treasure from around your house – find small items with different sensory properties. A clean washing up sponge, smooth pebbles from the garden, a piece of silky material, cold metal spoons, a jar of rice or pasta that rattles, a set of old keys, sequined cushions…lots of every day items can be hidden treasures!

Explore the different sensations – do you prefer rough or smooth textures? Cold metal or warm wood? Noisy shakers or gentle sounds?

Zoom Meet Ups for young people

Some of our existing clubs and groups are using Zoom to meet up – if you are interested in creating a Zoom group let Clarissa or Max know!

Online Group Chat 
Join our new “Allsorts Community” group chat on Facebook. It’s just for Allsorts parents and carers and is a way to keep that supportive community going when we can’t see each in person. To join the group, just click HERE 

NEW! – Friday morning Zoom coffee and play dates!
Get together for chats and coffee with other Allsorts members on Friday mornings 10am – approx 10.45am).  Starting on Friday 24th April – children, pets and general household chaos are all welcome! Email Clarissa for a weekly invite.

Grandparents Group by Zoom – Monday 27th April 10.30am. Email Clarissa for an invite.

Firming up friendships
If you’ve become friendly with other Allsorts parents or carers but never got around to swapping contact details, email Clarissa who can contact them on your behalf to offer your contact details.  Talking with other people who “get it” has always been at the heart of what we do and it’s never been more important than now.  And for the children and young people – even a quick wave at a familiar face can make a real difference!
