Family Activities

Allsorts is a place for the whole family. You can try new activities, make friends, find support, have fun and join a vibrant community of families with children who have additional needs.  Parents, carers, grandparents and siblings are involved too.

The majority of our activities are open to all family members.  The Activity Hub in Stroud Town Centre offers a clean, bright play space complete with sensory room and a Changing Places toilet.  This multi-purpose venue is home to our Toy Library with hundreds of items to borrow including specialist sensory equipment.  It’s also where we host fun family activities like Gaming Club, Sensory Stories, Family Fitness and a Toddler Group.  Our Families Team will give you a warm welcome and can talk with you about your family and their needs.

Allsorts families say that they enjoy being connected to others who understand the highs and lows of family life. We have found ways to keep our strong sense of community going despite the challenges of the pandemic.  Due to the pandemic we had to sadly press pause on some of our busier events but we always find ways to have fun together. Happily our Family Trips are back and we continue to rebuild our programme of activities.

We love welcoming families to the Activity Hub to enjoy some play time in a clean, bright space with our vast array of toys and friendly team.

Baby and Toddler Group

Allsorts hosts small, friendly baby and toddler groups where you can start to build a supportive network. We have a sensory room, a clean bright play space and parent/carer area for you and your little one can meet other families. The groups welcome toddlers with additional needs including those who have had a difficult medical start in life or do not have a diagnosis.  Siblings are also very welcome.

Siblings Group

Allsorts recognises that siblings often need something special just for them. It can be challenging when a brother or sister needs extra attention or understanding, so this group is a place just for the siblings of children with additional needs.  The group meet monthly for chats, quizzes, show and tell, challenges and games. It is great to build friendships with other children who understand the trials and tribulations of family life. For siblings aged approximately 8 – 13 years.

Family Trips

Allsorts families have always enjoyed meeting for days out in the holidays. It’s a great way to meet other families and try new experiences, with Allsorts staff to lend a hand. Previous trips have included steam railways, bowling, pool parties, soft play, sailing, farm parks, wildlife parks, the panto and picnics. We often have exclusive use of venues and our trips are usually within Gloucestershire.

Specialist Toy and Equipment Library

We have a large range of high quality toys to choose from in our lending library, giving families the opportunity to find which toys work best for their child. Toys aren’t just about play, they can also improve physical, developmental and cognitive skills in a fun and safe way.

We are extremely proud of our sensory items – you can find items such as lighting, tactile toys and weighted blankets. We have much larger items too for your children to come and see and explore in one of our Play Sessions.

As well as toys, we have some specialist equipment which could help ease some of life’s daily challenges. You can browse items online or speak to one of our experienced team who can advise you. Items are available to borrow for four weeks, or longer, in return for a donation.

Play Sessions

At the Allsorts Activity Hub you can find a variety of themed Play Sessions. The calendar is developing all the time in response to what families want! Sessions have included Gaming Club, Construction Club, Sensory and Messy Play, to name a few. If your child is unable to attend small group sessions, talk to us about booking exclusive use of our Playspace for just one family. All Play Sessions at the Hub are designed for parents and carers to stay and participate with their children.
